No problem, those soft buttons not turning off are VERY annoying, older devices don’t do this, the buttons just time out based on the screen timeout settings, this should be the same.
Done. Thanks for the pointer!
No, but please vote for this issue to be fixed, go here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=5853 thats the Android issue tracker.
Anyone know how to disable the soft-button backlights and/or the charging LED when the clock’s on? The screen looks super nice in the dark in the dimmed mode but the other bright lights are somewhat annoying.
Embed away, that’s what they are here for.
No such thing as post-jacking here. Any discussion is fair game!
I know, I haven’t found proof either, just some people saying theoretical stuff, so, I’m just going to do it, and leave it as an option for users, with a disclaimer.
Also, what I’m trying to do with that new screen saver feature on Bedside is letting it use the microphone, the accelerometer, and the screen. So if its on the screen saver, a minimal sound, movement or touch will deactivate the screen saver, then it will go back to it after a few minutes.
As for weather, I know, that’s one of the features that will come up on v3.1 as well, that was supposed to show up on 3.0 but it was buggy and I needed more time to finish it.
P.S. Clark sorry for post-jacking, just wanted to bring out a point and all this came up
Thanks Clark, great explanation! I hadnt played with the clock at all yet, but will now. Mind if I embed your video on my blog? I have filmed a bunch of how tos on stock apps too, since Im new to Android myself (bye, bye iphone) its ALL new to me!
Nick – I think the Green floating time is for when the phone is plugged into a soon to be released charging stand. I have one, and when I place the Nexus One in it, it automatically goes to the floating green time app. Dont know why its kicking in for you though without that!
@androidmom
mmm.. for me it only happens on night mode
That is super strange!! Yes it’s plugged in, then I start the clock app and after 5 minutes it goes to what I’m describing. After I tap the screen once the clock app comes back, and doesn’t got to the screen saver again after that.
