Motorola Backflip and Devour Android phones to debut at CES?

A new report from Barron’s is suggesting that Motorola will unveil two Android phones at CES next week. No phone names were given, but Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry speculates Motorola my announce one phone for AT&T and another for Verizon.

The phone that is most likely headed to AT&T is the Motorola Backflip. Barron’s reports the phone might be a Google experience device with stock Android, but all the information we have seen is to the contrary. Phandroid recently posted pictures of the Backflip with AT&T branding and it was running Motoblur powered by Android 1.5.

Barron’s also reports that Verizon may announce a phone which features an OLED display and soft keyboard. The Motorola Devour is the next device we were expecting on Verizon and it actually features a physical keyboard. Either the Barron’s report is wrong, or Motorola has another device lined up (like a retooled model headed for China).

Motorola has scheduled a press conference for 5:30 p.m. on January 6 in Las Vegas. We are attending CES so hopefully we will be able to attend the event and bring you the latest details.
